Especially in “The Elusive Pimpernel”. Whilst attending the opera with Bu Batz, Armand foolishly tells him that he is in the league of the Scarlet Pimpernel. For the next thirty-five years, Baroness Orczy continued to chronicle the feats of this lovable, swashbuckling adventurer. Armand’s predicament stems from his inability to learn this. This book could be either one or five stars, but it made me laugh so much that I went for a fiver here. I found the first part of this book to drag along, as well as frustrating to read about Armand’s stupid choices.
